Here Are The Hints Cheats And Partial Walkthroughs For Pokemon Crystal..
What's Pokemon Crystal?
Pokemon Crystal is to Gold/Silver, as Yellow is to Red/Blue, a special edition. In this game, you can select whether you want to play as a male or as a female trainer. It only affects your appearance, not the storyline. Where Yellow added support for GBC, Crystal requires GBC (or GBA).
The Pokemon you meet are animated. Some of the colors have changed. There are new Pokedex descriptions. When you enter a different area, a sign pops up showing you where you are.
Something very helpful is a new radio show. It is broadcast every day from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on 10.5 in Johto, and is called "Buena's Password". Talk to Buena on the second floor of the radio tower to get a blue card, which stores your points. Tune in to her show, get the password, and go to her where you should talk to her. Give her the password for one point. You can exchange your points for different prizes by talking to the lady in green.
Also, this is the first game that allows you to trade using a cell phone (Japan only). This is a very good thing if you have a friend that lives in another part of the country, since you can trade with him/her this way. There's no difference in which Pokemon you can choose to start with. And, as you may have heard, rumors say that you can catch Celebi, but that can only be done in the Japanese version.
What Pokemon can I only get by trading?
There are 28 per game, including evolutions. There are quite a few (18) Pokemon from the RBY games that you can't get in GSC, such as the three legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. So, I've split up the list in 4 parts: Pokemon Gold , Pokemon Silver , Pokemon Crystal and Universal.
Universal are the Pokemon you must trade from Red/Blue/Yellow. All evolutions included.
What about Evolution?
Difficult! Some Pokemon only evolve by being happy enough, generally the "baby" Pokemon. But there still are the three old methods: experience, trading, and stones.
Some Pokemon require a certain item on them to evolve while trading. These are the Pokemon that either evolve from number 1-151 to number 152-251, or that are already part of the new Pokemon, but that require trading to be evolved. Evolution by experience hasn't changed, but there is a big problem with evolving -- stones.
There is only one of each of the old stones (Leaf, Fire, Water, Thunder), but there is also a new stone. You get the Sun Stone by winning the park contest, but this can be done several times. The Moon Stone can also be gotten several times, for example by Mom finding it in the stores and buying it. The 4 other stones require that you to show certain Pokemon to the old man (Bill's Grandpa) at Bill's old house near Cerulean City. As I said, only one of each of those stones.
However, by trading Pokemon from Red/Blue/Yellow, or by using Mystery Gift with another Game Boy Color, you may be able to get more stones. In Crystal, you can get phone numbers of some of the people who offer you items when they find them. It is also possible to get stones by capturing certain wild Pokemon. For example, a Clefairy may be holding a Moon Stone.
An interesting side note, however, is that there are only two Pokemon that you'll have to get Stones for, Gloom to Bellossom and Sunkern to Sunflora, and both need Sun Stones. All the others can be traded from Red/Blue/Yellow.
What's the difference between GSC and RBY?
- Most Pokemon now have genders, which allows you to breed Pokemon - Full Game Boy Color support (Crystal: requires GBC or GBA) - 100 new Pokemon - 2 new types: Dark and Steel - 2 areas: Johto and Kanto (Kanto is the area where RBY takes place) - Different members of Elite Four and different Gym Leaders in Kanto - Option to have Mom save your money - Almost every TM is different - 2 new HM's: Whirlpool and Waterfall - 3 Pokedex modes: Evolution mode, Regular mode, and Alphabetic mode - Several battle system changes, including an indicator telling you if you have (or have had) the wild Pokemon you're facing - Built-in Clock: Graphics reflect the time of day the game is played - Your PokeGear - Pokemon can now hold items - Plants carrying different kinds of berries - A new and different rival - And much, much more!
...should I set the time correctly?
I'd recommend it, so that you'll get a bit more realism.
...why can't I enter my rival's name?
You'll be able to do that later.
What's this new option called Decoration on my PC?
It allows you to toggle some of the things that appear in your room. If you let your mom store money, she may buy new things for you to put in your room. And, you can get new things by using the Mystery Gift option, which you'll gain access to later, and trading with a RBY game.
What's this thing...PokeGear?
